The fanfiction is is a broadly defined term for fiction about characters or settings written by admirers of the original work, rather than by the original creators. There are different kinds of fanfiction and the so called genres and subgenres. One of those genres is the Angst. The angst fanfiction is usually centered in just one character, it focus on the emotional pain of the protagonist and it commonly reccurs to dark actions such as suicide, death character, violence or betrayal, so the suffering of the main character can be deeper. Angst fanfiction are stories that have heavy and sometimes depressing themes, and have the characters suffering emotionally (and sometimes physically) in some way.  A story that deals with a character's death would be considered angst.  A story that deals with a romantic or friendship break-up would be angst.  Any story that has dark themes or issues, is classified as angst. 

Personaly, angst is more than my favourite genre of all. As an angst fanwriter I believe angst is the deepest and purest way of fanfiction, it has the power to change the way you see a certain fandom and 90% of the angst fanfictions can definitly make you cry... which is good, to feel that way when you read is amazing.
